77' ELCO Interior Views

The Elco 77-footer has always been my favorite PT design; there is something about its look just suggests the word 'elegant'. Being an RC scale modeler, a decent-sized model of the Elco-77 has been on my long-time 'wants' list for years, but since model companies were (and still are) showing mad love to the 80-foot Elco, I finally wound up scratchbuilding one in the early 1990's. The photographs below and on the next three pages were taken in April 1945 aboard PT's 47 and 59, and are excellent views for anyone interested in what the interior of one of these boats looked like. At the time, the two boats were used for dehydration and preservation tests at the Philadelphia Navy Yard.
