The crew of PT 37; this photo was taken in Panama sometime in early 1942. Seated: Lt. (jg) Mark Wertz. Standing, l-r: TM2/c Marvin Crosson, SC1/c Ivah C. May, unknown, Ens. Bernard O'Neill, CMM Alsie Porterfield, CQM John D. Legg, MM1/c Charles Carner, RM1/c Owen Pearle. Most of the men here (save Lt. Wertz and the unknown sailor) would take the PT 37 to the South Pacific. Wertz would be transferred to Squadron Two in August 1942, taking command of PT 47; his replacement as 37's skipper would be Ens. Leonard A. Nikoloric. The unknown sailor would be replaced by F1/c John Der in June 1942.
